just picked this up tonight was off of craigslist for 100 dollars. he said it need a carb cleaning and he is right bogs bad and spits gas i will work on it soon. 1973 gp 338 runs. also gave me a parts sled he had i think it is a 71 338 with no motor. :2strokes:

well i cleaned the carbs rejetted smaller and this thing rips after the first few seconds. also put some 50 to 1 oil and gas. the guy had 32 to 1 did not like it. it has 36 mm carbs on it seems bit big for a 338 what is stock size. had fun riding it in the yard.

Nope, 36MM is correct for that motor I believe. Some of the 338 motors even had 38 MM carbs on them. I know the SL series did for sure have 38mm carbs.

i have a friend who has 2 338 and 1 438 he wants 1200 for all, one 338 runs good the other 338 and the 438 have leaky gas tanks and need carb work they fire but dont stay running
