I know it's a bit early for this topic but... what are your feelings in regards to doo-doo's set up for storing their 2-strokes motors. From what I've read, their oil pumps are electronically controlled so when you activate the storage sequence the pump alters it's flow rate (increase) for a preset amount of time and coats the internals with oil and the motor shuts down... that's it...done deal. So, would you not get the same effect by starting/warming your sled up, pull the oil pump cable for a full stroke, let it load up and kill the motor? Is this enough protection?? I thought fogging oil contained elements better suited for long storage protection (seals/bearings)? Am I missing something here???

Nope i have been pulling on the oil cable until it smokes for years.Than remove/drain gas from carbs and she is good to stow.

If the oil is directly injected through a seperate line/injector (like my old Polaris) than you're injecting more oil right away. From what I've read, I think fogging is a better way of ensuring the crank bearings and other internals are sealed from corrosion causing moisture.
So you're saying that Doo has a storage procedure that only requires added oil and no fogging?
I guess if you aren't relying on injected oil to lube the crank bearings (I understand that many are greased for life or greasing them is a PM item), perhaps fogging isn't necassary.
Skidoo's system injects oil straight to the motor/bearings/pv's. I follow with the Yamaha system, in that, the oil is introduced @ the fuel pump. I guess my question is this... is "fogging oil" necessary or could we just remove the airbox and inject straight oil into carbs @ high idle and fog the motor down. Chemically, does fogging oil contain anything special???
Fogging the engine puts a coating on all parts of the crankcase to prevent rust from forming,,(especially the bearings)... Straight oil will not adhere to parts, (will drip off leaving bearings susceptible to form rust)... Witch is the leading cause to crank failures.....

Most Ski-doo's run sealed crank bearings now... so even fogging oil does nothing for them.

ATF. Take fuel line off put it in a quart of atf and let it run untill it smokes like cheech and chong.

As for fogging oil vs 2 stroke... From what I've read it appears that fogging oil does adhear to metal and protects better than just straight 2 stroke oil. At least thats the claim.
Still, a couple freinds still insist on performing the rich oil/fuel mix for storage and I can't say they've had any unusual crank/bearing failures.
I drain my fuel down to around a gallon, add a bit of premix and let it run for a good 20-30 minutes while I'm spraying the sled down with silicone and pulling the shocks. Pull the air box and alternately spray a full can of fogging oil. Shut it down, drain the fuel, start it up and run it dry using the choke to suck the bowls dry.
