quick question: I need a new primary clutch for my sled and would like to know what model yamahas clutches are the same as my 99 srx 700....are all srx 700 and viper primary clutches identical.......I know this is my first yamaha so i'm slowly picking picking things up...I'm considering just buying a used complete primary because its more affordable for me right now...and i just want to ride this sled before all the snow melts......thank you

Any primary clutch from 1992 & up will fit. This has been beat to death. The only diff is primary spring; weights rollers & cover.

TURK- This is kind of off subject, but what do you think about the lightweight primary covers offered by Bender?
Sorry for Hi-Jacking your thread Justin...LoL.

no problem netefrog. Turk, I noticed on yamahas website that the spider assembly part number is different: part number for a 1998 srx 700 is 8ca-17640-11-00 and the 99srx700 is 8ca-17640-12-00. Can I use this complete used 1998srx700 assembly on my 99 without rebuilding it....i realize i will have to use my own weights, rollers, spring..however my 99 spider looks no good as well, do i have to buy a 99 spider assembly or will the 98 piece work? i really hope so because i just purchased a used 98 full primary clutch assembly that looked a million times better than the one i have right now...!!!
:o|

I'm not an expert but I put a 2001 Venture clutch on my 95 vmax and all I did was swap over my weights, spring, and cover, it was a direct bolt on. I think you will be just fine running the other clutch as-is, especially since it is off an SRX.

turk, but don't the vmax4 primarys have a different offset?? if so, those won't work then i think??

THERE ARE SOME DEFFERENCE IN THE VMAX 4 PRIMARY, THE DEFFERENCE IS IN THE STATIONARY SHEAVE. I BELIEVE THE MOVEABLE IS THE SAME. A SRX 700 CLUTCH PULLER WILL NOT REMOVE A VMAX 4 CLUTCH . THE PIN ON THE PULLER IS TOO SHORT AND BOTTOMS OUT THE PULLER BECAUSE OF THE SHORTER PTO STUB ON THE VMAX 4.. 3:16 (yammie tony)

thats what i thought and heard, was that the fixed sheave was different, so it casues a different offset than like that on a viper/srx.
