I am curious if anyone has tips on how to get started in doing races like the Iron Dog or Cain's Quest? I am fascinated by the those races and really want to give it a shot in the next couple of years. I am thinking that I would be an idiot to put together my idea of a good sled and then just show up and hope for the best!

I guess what I am askings is are there shorter, less dangerous races of that style to help give people an idea of what they are in for before committing all of the time and money to the big dance?

Lastly, would it be nutts to think that a Viper would be a suitable platform to build an endurance sled on? I realize that it would need a better suspension and longer track, but there is something to be said about having a bulletproof motor!

gotta read the rules, some rules state you cant mod your sled AT ALL, others no engine mods... others no suspension mods... depends on the class your wanting to run, if your gonna run all out, with suspension and engine mods, your gonna have to run an open class, thats where the people that have thousands invested race at..... good luck
