Hi,
Can anyone explain where Chain Gear Drain Plug is located on a 2003 Viper? I finally gave up looking for it and just loosened the whole cover to let the oil drain out.
Thanks!!

Its inside the tunnel at the bottom of the chaincase.

It is located on the inside of the tunnel on the backside of the chain case. It will be the bolt with the 12 mm head.

Thanks for the responses. Does anyone have a photo of the location? The service manual wasn't helpful at all.musselman said:It is located on the inside of the tunnel on the backside of the chain case. It will be the bolt with the 12 mm head.

Great photo! Pardon my ignorance due to the sled is new to me, that's obviously not the engine compartment. Can you define the "tunnel".
Thanks for digging up that photo musselman. That's why forums rock!!

The tunnel is the rear portion of the sled starting from around where the gas tank is. It's the aluminum that covers the track and suspension.

This pic is missing the chaincase, track and drive axle. Sitting on the sled, the bolt will be inside the tunnel near where your right foot would be on the outside of the tunnel. you wont have to remove the track or anything else, you will just have look for it with a light.
