I was looking to do a skid swap in my 1996 vmax xt 600, and I found a 1994 Polaris Indie 440 wreck. Is it worthwhile to use this skid, and maybe the track? I could also get my hands on a 1998 AC 700, but I haven't heard much about the suspension on the Cats.
PS- Is it crazy to be sad that it is finally getting warmer?

Yes it is very sad......boohoo... If those are your two choices I'd do the ac, I have an extra 10 on my super sport,, but would not bother with anything earlier than that .....

I think the 440 XCR in '95 was the first year for the extra-10. If it's just an Indy it isn't an extra-10. The extra-10 was standard in '96.

IMO - the extra-10 is a good way to go.

I'd agree with Whammy, if those are your choices the AC would be the better of the two.

As for the track... if it's the original '94, that'd make it 16 years old. If it's seen sunlight for more than two or three of those years regardless of condition, it's probably worthless.

Have a cousin with that Polaris skid, and he is looking to upgrade to an Xtra-10 because it rides too rough. The newer Pro-Action is a better skid than that Polaris.

The cat skid is better but not that much.

For what a newer skid can be found for, I wouldn't waste my time on any older skid unless you are really strapped for money. Many newer skids can be had for $300 or even less.

Same on the track, as the improvements in the rubber and construction since the 90's is great. Find a takeoff Camoplast for around $200.

Thanks, I will check around for an extra 10. I don't have a lot of riding experience, and none on someone else's sled. So I don't have an opinion, except that my ride needs better suspension. Some suspension work will keep me occupied all summer.
