I'm sorry if this is not where I'm supposed to post this question but I'm new here. Anyways I'm working on a 94 vmax 600 for a friend and the jackshaft is stripped out so I'm going to replace it but my ? is how does it come out of there? I have it tore all the way down but someone has tried welding the coupler togather on it. So is the secondary side supposed to side out with the bearing on it or should I heat it up and how does the shaft come out of the chain case area? Any help would be great thanks

if someone has welded the shaft together, you will need to remove the chaincase cover, the chain, and the upper gear to free up the shaft. i assume you already have removed the airbox to allow access to the bearing housing mounted to the tunnel. this likes to hold up progress as well and it is easier to unbolt it and remove the entire shaft, along with the bearing housing. after removing both circlips from the shaft and the housing, the shaft should free up from the bearing and housing. sometime a press helps pursuade it to move.

All right thanks for the help. I have got the air box off and case cover and chain and upper gear off. I'm going to take off the bearing housing right now and that should get it off. Thanks a ton for helping me through this little project. I will let you know here shortly about the shaft.

once you get the shaft out, the next battle is removing the bearing and housing. this is where the press comes in handy, but there are barbaric tricks if a press is not available.

Thanks snowdad I have a press so that should not be a problem. I will let you know if I run in to any other problems. Let me know about that shaft for shipping. Thanks
