on my 2002 SRX700..stock jetting is 147.5/146.3/146.3. Trying to find out what temps that is roughly set for.I am 750 ft elevation here.In my Clymer manual..which is 1997-2002 triple motors models, but not the SRX motor..shows that that jetting is good for -40 F on the Redhead 700 engine. Is that the same case if it were the SRX 700 engine. And now my jetting is way higher(2001 specs). No wander my motor was holding back being it was rich.I remember when I first got the SRX years back.stock jetting..it was a beast motor wise. With the 2001 jetting it seemed to have killed off my beasty feel..Who on here has a real jetting chart that can be posted up maybe in the Tech Section for all to see.
Yet the Yamaha manual I have shows that jetting is only good for above 0 F.Got to find the truth on this.

Jet the 00 to 01 specs. Leave the 02 stock and run good gas. Anyone that jets an 02 to 01 specs because the light is coming on, does not understand why its coming on--You included partner. For 40 degree weather riding, go ahead and drop 1 or 2 jets (mains). Your not going to blow up an 02 on a 40 degree day with jetting 1 or 2 smaller mains than the stock.
I already know that stock 02 jetting is to rich for 30+ weather and will be experimenting with a tempa or vari flow (if I can find a vari flow). I had a vari flow on my 01 modded ZR 800 and it worked excellent. Why they stopped making is beyond me.
Also, put your stock pilots back in if you still have those 50's in there...

I have the stock pilots installed in there a few weeks back and it felt a little snappier. So you are saying the stock jetting is good for -30 plus. The 2000 jetting is the same as 02.That is why TY member.. needasrx .. was doing good runs with his 2000 SRX in the cold ,but when it got to above 0,he was boggy and lost some of his get up and go.He could of run a size or 2 smaller..I think he was asking that if he could do that. The answer is yes and would be safe.

There is no good jet size for -30 to +40. You have an 02 with DCS. I would deff not jet richer than stock--even at -30. For warm spring riding, dont expect snappy performance with the stock jetting thats good down to -30.

I don't ride in weather any more that is past -25.Just not to much fun when it is that cold and windchills to.My favorite temps are from -10 to -20Just tore my carbs apart on my sxr600 and checked the mains. They are totally stock..explains why my stepson had an edge on me with his vmax600.He was something like 10 or more sizes down from stock. He bought the sled that way and man it is one snappy sled on launches.I want to order mains 1 size smaller for both sleds for when the weather starts to warm up and stay there until spring. So as of right now..things will be stock jetting for both sleds.Unless the DCS on the SRX comes on..then I will up it 1 size and see.I always run #1 gas out here. The carbs in my 600 were flawless..jetting all clean..no garbage buildup from our gas out here..that is a bonus .I also run fitch catalyst in all my stuff and that seems to help alot.My gas stays fresh for a long time when not in use.Seen it on all my machines..snowblower,weedeater,pumps,..etc.Everything starts up easily in the spring while sitting all winter.Never used to be that way..so something is working there.

Keeping the DCS from flashing requires 1 of 2 things to happen.
1. unhook the wire to the light in the dash or...
2. Run 100 octane
Upping the main is not the answer.
I ran in 0 F with stock 02 jetting and didnt see the light 1 time. Was running approx 98-100 octane that day. Had 2.5 gallons of 110 leftover from my dirtbike. I realize setting up for 100 octane isnt practical for a trail sled but the DCS blinking on and off is not the end of the world. Its a 3 stage system. Stage 1 coming on is not going to hurt a thing--including performance in most cases.

My DCS has not flashed really for 2 seasons on me.Using 91 Premium that we have here and was jetted to 2001 specs.Only time I had a flash was about a month back when I had a PV cable break on me and the light started to flash when I gave her.On long runs no flashes either.I will go back to stock mains next season and monitor things.

yeah, there was a tech update tony. i checked out the piston wash on my buddies '00 srx, that has the stock "un-updated" jetting, and there is like zero wash. i personally would jet a '00 to be like a '01 or at least meet in the middle type thing.
My performance issues started down in Michigan I went for a ride with my boss, most of the day it ran fine then had it parked for a couple days then went to changed out my powervalves to the ones I bought from Richard, I put them to specs and left for home 24 hrs later I tried to start the sled it idle fine but bog bad from a bad tank of premium I put in from a gas station along our ride, took that gas out and put fresh premium in no bog run great, but no more power the last three races I went too sleds that I was beating were beating me know by 2 or more sleds even 600 xprevs so that was why I was asking if I can go down 1-2 sizes on the main jets for this warmer weather but as Don mentioned your not even on the main jets in a 660ft race. there are a few Last minute Ice drags here so I'm going to try it on Ice and will let you guys know how it runs but the weather is pretty warm don't know how long the Ice is going to hold out.
I was looking up on the search feature and was reading that my clutching might be causing my performance loss even though my RPMS are spot on at 8100 launch and WOT 84-8500

don't go KABOOM!!! on us there.I thought the jetting for 00 and 02(which are same stock) was sufficient to around -30..so what's the deal here?Any richer main's you will loose performance.
That is a scary story there needasrx..about your filling up with Premium fuel in Michigan and your motor started acting up.Good to know our fuel here is good to go.That should be a warning to guys south of the border to really be cautious about the fuel you guys are forced to use...that would worry me some.

When I bought my sled new the dealership put 142.5, 142.5, 145 in mine. I have a parometer and it seems to be about perfect for here. Our elevation is 1680 feet. I run about 1250 degrees at -20, gets a little lean at -30.bluemonster1 said:on my 2002 SRX700..stock jetting is 147.5/146.3/146.3. Your on the main plenty in a 660' race. Your on the main in a 100' race. The needle is an excellent tuning jet for trail riding (especially when its 40-45 degrees in the spring but unless your not slamming the flipper down and are racing at 1/4 throttle, the main jet is still the primary jet to tune for weather changes then you go from there tot he needle, pilots, etc, etc...needaSRX said:My performance issues started down in Michigan I went for a ride with my boss, most of the day it ran fine then had it parked for a couple days then went to changed out my powervalves to the ones I bought from Richard, I put them to specs and left for home 24 hrs later I tried to start the sled it idle fine but bog bad from a bad tank of premium I put in from a gas station along our ride, took that gas out and put fresh premium in no bog run great, but no more power the last three races I went too sleds that I was beating were beating me know by 2 or more sleds even 600 xprevs so that was why I was asking if I can go down 1-2 sizes on the main jets for this warmer weatherthere are a few Last minute Ice drags here so I'm going to try it on Ice and will let you guys know how it runs but the weather is pretty warm don't know how long the Ice is going to hold out.but as Don mentioned your not even on the main jets in a 660ft race.
