i bought a used viper, upon closer examination i found the front motor mounts on the starter side with no engine bolts.i took it apart and the bottom bolt is just missing or stripped and the top bolt is broke off inside. anybody else have this broblem? do you absolutely have to have both bolts holding or would the bottom one hold it? what do you guys think? thanks alot , any time i have broblems i come here and you guys help me alot!

I have had both bolts break off on the PTO side and just used an angle drill and a square easy out. It was tight to get in there but doable. It would of sucked to have had pulled the motor to do this. Stuby 1/8" bit and 1/8" easy out.

had to pull the motor when i fixed mine.
bobsiding, i think you would be alright with just one bolt as long as you put an engine torque limiter on it.

remove the mount, grind the top of the bolt threads, weld a ball on the shaft top then weld a nut on it, it will spin out without removing the motor. install a srx mount with three holes if you dont have electric and also install a srx rear torque arm, availible through the accessory catolgue as a kit for 40$, will make clutching work better too.

x2 broke a few of em, without even beating on the sled hard yet, some ony had a couple hundred miles to em, until going to the srx mount, never had anymore problems.

Ditto on the SRX 3-point mount and Yamaha torque limiter arm. Tried and True.

Ding/ Others:

I found the Ymaha Torque Limiter Arm (SMA-ENGIN-ST-AY) and I'm ordering it.

I also want to install the SRX 3 point mount you speak of.........

Any pics of this installed on the Viper? Which motor mount does it replace, the clutch side mount?

Thx!!!!

Mike

Yes, it only replaces the front left (clutchside) mount. The crankcase is already threaded for it. Be sure to use locktite.

Sorry no pics on hand, but someone should have one. Just look at a SRX mount. Should be pics on here of SRX engines without the headers.
