I have been having a terrible time trying to figure out why my 1992 Yamaha Exciter II started bogging. I was putting her away for the Summer today and put some seafoam in and warmed it up. I was driving it to load it on my trailer for storage and it was boggin so bad I could barely load it. I got it loaded and was looking it over again one last time. I noticed a ton of oil and sludge below each exhaust port. I then noticed a pretty good gap between the exhaust ports and the "Y" pipe. the gap was big enough for me to fit my fingernail in in some areas. My question is, would bad exhaust gaskets cause my sled to bog down badly? It seems to have gotton worse as the weather has warmed. Does this sound like it may be an issue? Thanks.

bogging

You didn't mention that you checked the plugs. It was probably a plug that just fouled cause it is so warm outside.

Look over your belt real good. I had a bogging issue and tried everthing. cleaning carbs and etc. Came down to the belt was shot. It should be sitting flush to a hair above the secondary clutch. That should be an easy check.
