is it a good power add on to use boysen reeds on a 440 exciter or do the stock ones make as much power.I'm thinking of getting a set of power reeds for my 77. Has anyone ever dyno'd to see if they make a difference.
Thanks
Thanks
I don't know about how much power they add but the throttle response seems to be crisper on my '78.

I didn't know you get reeds for these old girls. How about my 340 Enticer?
I bought V-Force carbon fiber reeds for 98 SRX and really couldn't tell much of a difference. Then in just a few hundred miles, they cracked, broke off and the engine ingested one! I have noticed that Boyesen's new ads show reeds that are NOT carbon fiber. It would seem they found that carbon fiber was not the correct material to use. May I ask, what are the ones you bought for the Exciter made of and what did they set you back? If anyone has any dyno results with and without, by all means please post them. Thanks. G.

Definitely not carbon fiber then. I don't think that is unreasonable cost wise and am now more curious than ever whether or not I could some for my Enticer. I know that doesn't make a lot of sense, but I like doing stuff like that. Let us know if you get any dyno results. Thanks. G.
Enticer's don't have reeds is them.

But there are a couple prototype ET250 motors with reeds. Otherwise, no Enticer came with reeds.

Okay, I did not know that. I am trying to buy an Enticer engine right now and was looking at it and noticed the rectangular mounts and assumed there was reeds in there. I have a good spare 340 but it is a 78 with the splined clutch. If I can get this one cheap enough I will take it. Thanks. G.

stock new...is good...boysen reeds are my aftermarket choice.
You really can't tell on a sled..(too much other stuff going on)...that is noticable..however..we have run them in geared 2/'s noticable improvement down low.
At that time we had other prototype petals from around America...Euro CRS special size and boysen reeds were the best...
