I have a 98 srx and I want to replace the bottom drive axle bearing, that is under the speedo. To change this would it be the same as changing the track? Pull the chain case apart and all that, or is there some simpler why I hope?

I think..
If my memory is right I think you can get it off with out removing the axle as long as you can loosen the set screws on it and its not stuck to the shaft. The only time I did it was when I had the track out though.

The speedo cover is the carrier for the bearing. Remove the outside cover and remove the set screws (might be a couple) and use wd40 or liquid wrench or some source of lub and let it sit. 98 Im guessing it will be tight and will need some lubrication, but maybe you will get lucky and it comes right out.
Good luck. Isnt that bad of a job. Brent

Also, if you push the drive axle up and to the front of the sled whileremoving and installing it will make it easier as well. Having the suspension installed will put pressure on the axle. Loosen up the track too.
