Hey guys, I'm planning on a skid swap and stretch this summer on my 700sx. I've spotted a 136 skid from a 2001 RMK, would that be a good skid? I'm not sure if I'll stay with 136 or go to 144 yet, If I go to 144 I might do the 4" set back. I'm also planning on using 8 tooth drivers (I currently have 22/40 gears what gears should use)?. I'm also wondering what happens to the stance on the front when you use viper shocks (does make it narrower)? Any other thoughts would be appreciated. I'm just going to get started on picking up the parts whenever I have some extra money.

If you ride trails most often then that skid will not be very good. That skid will be uncoupled and want to kick the back end up over big bumps on the trail. I had an 02' RMK skid and it didn't perform too well on the trails but excellent in the powder.
You will be better off looking for a 121 edge and then getting extensions, or look at the doo skids like the sc3 or 4 that are from a renegade (they are 136).

I tried a set of xtc shocks a few years ago on my srx and it lifted the front end way too much and narrowed the stance so I couldn't hook up the sway bar with the stock radius rods. I couldn't even steer the sled properly. Those shocks were 18 inches long if I remember right. This year I picked up a set of viper radius rods and a set of shocks from a 2002 rmk which are 17 inches long. I put it together and it lifted my front about 4 inches. I have 9 1/2 inches clearance under my bellypan and about 19 1/2 inches to the underside of my front bumper. The stance stayed the same, I used my original srx steering rods instead of the longer viper ones and I was able to hook up my sway bar. Had to cut the bushings narrower on the top viper radius rods to fit in the mounts of my trailing arms and use all my srx swivel ends that bolt to the bulkhead but it was easy to do. Right now my steering arms are angled down quite a bit to where it bolts onto the spindals and it seems to bind a bit. I plan to get a longer bolt and put a bushing under to lift them a bit to help the angle some. Other than that it seems to work pretty good. Hope this helps.

I've got a 136 coupled polaris skid taking up space in my garage. It's basically brand new. I bought is as a new take out when I was in a bind for a suspension, put it in my wife's sled, rodie it one weekend and swap it out. I'd take $300 bucks for it if you come get it. Nothing wrong with it, just wasn't what I wanted, but she had to have her sled up and running so I used it until I found another holz skid.

They are the cheap ones that they were using. Shoot me an email address or a phone number and I'll get a pic or two with my phone and send it your way. It actually looks about identical to the one musselman has listed for sale, but black and has the coupler blocks in it.

Hey Musselman, thanks for the heads up, I didn't even see your skid for sale, I must have missed it last night when I was looking. Anyways I like off trail riding but because of the lack of snow I've tried to stay on the trails more this year. If I had to guess I would say I spend 30% of my time off trail. So it would be good to have something that will handle well on the trails as well...
