ok.. im back again for some info... 6 yrs ago turk helped me with this... now just seems it doesnt perform the way it should !.. 98 srx, bender cold air kit, v-force reeds. has a bender kit now. ...used to engage 3800 now its like 3000-3200 any sugestions

Your springs are worn out after 6 yrs. You need to find out what primary weights are in it and how heavy they are. Then it will be easier to find a new spring to match that weight. Then look for some numbers on the helix to find out what you've got there. You can then get a spring for your secondary.

Replace spring it is tired and wear pads on helix ramps. Clean clutches up and re wrap new spring where old one was

i'll pull it all apart and see what i can find... i just redid motor with new pistons and complete gasket set with seals

ok , got everything apart ...not looking real good. helix is worn bad where it rides on the ramps bender helix 9870p ? nothing on spring just black.... primary 8dn 00 has wieghts in both holes not sure which..rpms always at 8400-8600 spring has blue and yellow markings ?? sencondary spring was in #1 and #6 on the helix

try doing a search to see if u can find your old post to turk about clutching. It might still be on here unless u pm,ed him.

Your best bet might just be to start over from scratch. You still have the stock weights in there. So you can use those or get a weight that might be more suited to how you ride. Do you mostly just trail ride or run her wide open on the lakes? Those weights are more of a lake running weight than a good trail weight.
If the helix is worn bad that means that your buttons are proably bad then too. So like TSU said, time for some new ones. Probably just replace buttons get the stock primary and secondary springs and a 47 Helix and you'll be back to stock.
Or you can set it up to be a real trail ripper for about $100 bucks more than what you would be spending already. It's up to you, we're all here to help.

trail ride , with occasional lake runs... the buttons are new but will replace as so everthing is new...trail ripper is what i wanted.!

WWW Primary Spring, 8dn-20's (stock'00-'02 SRX weights) 4.5 grams in lower hole 5.5 grams in top hole, Yamaha green secondary spring wrapped at 60 or 70, and a 54/44 Helix. That is what I currently have in my '98 700 and she's a ripper. I got the weights from a friend for $70, the Helix from Hauck Powersports for $120, The 4.5's and 5.5's are nut and screw sets from Hauck. Both the springs were from Hauck also I think I paid $35 for the pair. So like $250 and you will rip and your rpm's will be right. 8100 at launch climbing to 8300-8400. Get a new belt too, you won't regret it. Any questions PM me. By the way where are you located?

north east ohio,.... mostly ride in northern lower mi. around onaway. but i live on a lake here and we had awesome snow this year two feet at once so only one trip to mi this year which is the top hole

OK, well you should be happy with the set-up I gave you. A lot of guys run that from TY. You might be able to pick up the weights and/or a helix close to 54/44 used from someone from this site. Actually, I might be getting rid of my weights, so if interested let me know.

i called bender and they wouldnt say anything... did tell me to scuff the helix clean it up. its not bad ??? i guess ... because they couldnt tell me what kit it was over the phone . i have no idea what springs to put in.... with all the help on here i should be able to get a couple good set-ups is this a good helix for agressive trail ?

The tip or outer hole. Sorry I shouldn't type so fast. I tend to mess up a lot:) That helix should work good if it's a 53/43. Clean it up and maybe you can just run some new springs and be fine. WWW primary and a red or green secondary.
