Apologies for the basic question - I did perfrom a search and apparently I am the only person that has ever had to ask...
Are there instructions for removing the stock exhaust pipes on a 1999 SRX700?
I just got this sled and the exhaust just looks very complicated. The pipes seem so intertwined and layered - I'm not sure where to start. Is it just a matter of pulling springs off randomly - or is there a specific order or procedure available?
Any help is appreciated - even if it's to say go for it!
Cheers

go for it. start with the top pipe and work your way down. you will find there are exhaust donuts so take it easy on those. very straight forward
^^^ What he said. ^^^ There is an order to it but I can't think of it off the top of my head. After you do it a few times you'll get the hang of it. Gets kinda frusturating after getting two of the pipes on and then realizing that you have to take them off again because the last one won't fit.
You can take a picture to refresh your memory.. Don't hook springs up till you have them in place (or then know where they go)..
Taking them out is easy. But to put them back in I put the mag side one in first, then I kind of put the middle and pto ones in together so you can fit them to the can properly. Its kind of hard to explain, but those two pipes go onto the motor in one order and mount to the can in the opposite order.
When I still had my 98 srx, which i sadly sold. I use to take all 3 off at the same time. Even when installing them, but that was me.

Thanks for all the advice - I guess I'll learn as i go!

I always take the muffler and 3 pipes off at the same time. Soooo much easier. Saves a bit of head- scratching too.
Yup and you wont need to worry about which pipe goes where. Just keep them together as they do in place.
Take a piece of masking tape and number them.
