i was thinkin about tar racing my 01 srx, but than my buddy tells me he would sell me a 96 mach z with dynoport pipes for 750.00, so maybe i will race that instead, they both seem pretty heavy, but the skidoo seems easier to set up and might be alittle faster what would you guys do?

I hang around with 6 buds that all have the older mach Z,s. When well tuned they will wail on a SRX.

i love yamahas but might have to go with the skidoo, it does sound really mean with stingers on it,

Turk - What makes them so fast in your opinion. Do they make more HP or do they have a weight advantage?

Ski-Doo

The crank has a significantly longer stroke to begin with not to mention there is a lot of meat in those cylinders where HP can be gained if porting is done. You can EASILY get 200 hp out of one of those piped mach z motors. I don't have to tell you Mac what you'd need to do to get that out of a viper or SRX.

SOME OF YOU GUYS SHOULD RESERCH THINGS BEFORE YA POST. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Go with a Mach Z 780 and you'll end up spending more money on pistons than gas...

They are very very dependable when jetted correctly. I have ridden with mach Z,s since 1994 & have seen minimal piston failure. The only weakness is the plastic caged bearing that can last from 50 - 10,000 miles. These things haul the mail! unfortunately there is a lot of badly tuned ones out there that give a dad impression of how they perform.
Toss in some sleaves & 583 pistons & you have a 925 killer sleeper lake racer...or go with 617 pistons & go with a 975. My group of buds has em all in every state of tune!

Pretty proud day for ski-don't when there 780- 800 will take out a 700, if it will? I runn grass and usually in 800 classes as well as 700 and It usually can go either way with the mach z, they need pipes on there 800's to run with my 700.

STOCK THEY ARE VERY BEATABLE. INPROVED STOCK IT JUMPS VERY HIGH BECAUSE THESE SLEDS CAN MAKE HUGE POWER. PRO-STOCK FORM FORGET IT. THEY ARE STILL THE BEST SLED OUT THERE FOR BIG CLASS RACING. I ALSO KNOW ALOT OF BIG SKIDOO GUYS HERE IN NY, I WAS TOLD THE 96 AND 97 WERE THE TWO BEST YEARS FOR RACING AND HP. RACED HUNREDS OF MACH,s. tell ya one thing, they can keep those shit box rev,S and those piles of crap xp. they can,t hold a candle to the mach z. 3:16 (yammie tony)

if you do go with the Mach's the 95-96 will out run the newer ones with ease in 500-2000' but must be flat land..LOL
