Hey guys,

I am a Yamaha Noob but have been wanting an SRX for a long time.

I have some extra cash to work with so I thought I would start the search.

I have recently found what appears to be a very very well taken care of 98 SRX 700 for $1300 (it honestly is one of the cleaner sleds I have seen).

2nd owner.

Here is the part I am struggling with. It has 10,000 miles on it. I am trying to nail down verification on rebuilds, problems, or anything else.......

Considering everything is straight......which it looks like it is.....would you guys go for this?

What if it has never been rebuilt? Again, Yamaha noob here.

that is alot of miles on a 2 stroke sled no matter how it was taken care of. if it hasn't been rebuilt or had any motor work done I would budjet into your cost what it would be to disassemble the motor and check everything out. The 98's also had crank issues but they were "supposed" to be fixed under a factory recall.

I probably wouldn't pay much more than $1000 for it but that is going by what they sell for in my area. You can get a really nice 98 SRX700 with 3-4,000 miles for $1500 here

It will probably need new powervalves & cables unless the guy was fanatic on maintenance.
Run a dial indicater guage & check crank run out as a lot of em had issues.

cheap enough sled but if i were to spend it id go for a 2000 or newer, ran better, better electronics(dual headlight and better ignition) and if it is a 01 or 02 has the dual controls for the hand and thumb warmers. the headlight alone is worth it, helps alot if you ride at night, 3x better than the single headlight.

look around you can find deals on em that people have already put viper suspensions in, clutching or whatever for decent prices, if its something nice $2500 isnt out of the ordinary.

that is a lot of miles...but i did hear of pp with srx to have that many miles..i would budget to do some work on it tho..good luck tho..

the 2000 and newer ones do go alot of miles, i just rebuilt mine for the first time at 7,000 miles. it still ran strong was my own fault i blew it up due to a lean out. rad hard for all 7000 miles though, but i did do alot of regular maintence, alot of people out there just get gas and go. good luck
