i thought my front shocks were good, but the other day, my roomate brought up his 03 F7 and my front end sits like 6 inches lower..
Does anyone know how high a normal viper should be sitting in the front?? also, is there anyway to pick up the front end at all?
Can someone post pictures of the front end, i wana see what angles the front end components sit at? Thanks..

Where are you measuring the difference between the two sleds? You should compare the actual travel and clearence under the belly pan. Then reason I say this, is the height of the bumper doesnt determine the amount of front end travel.
My Viper is packed away, but Im sure you could Google "Yamaha Viper" and search Images to get a good veiw.

shocks don't determine the height of your sled unless they're air shocks.
In general when a sled starts to sag its due to dead springs or something seized, not that I'm saying a viper is designed to be the same height as an f7.
some guys flip the front shock brackets to get an extra .75".... not something I would do.

look at the angle of the radius rods, the belly pan end of the rods should be higher or at least equal to the height of the end hooked to the trailing arms. if the front end isnt saging, (belly pan close to the ground) then everything is fine. the cat looks higher cause of the bumper height like Sno-Xr stated and also the hood is a little more "bull nosed" compared to the slope of the viper hood, think that deceives people also. i think some cats do have more ride height though cause of where the shock mounts are on the bulkhead, they dont necesarily have more travel, would be like lowering your upper shock mounts a couple inches, that would also give you thay tipsy feeling cats have compared to yamahas. also the shock mount trick only works on the srxs and stuff, the vipers are diffrent ends and are part of the bulkhead unlike the srx which has bolt on mounts. if you still want the ride height i have seen kits on ebay fairly cheap that change the shock mounting location on the trailing arm end. if you are having problems bottoming or something i would reccomend just getting ohlins or something of that nature.

So would buying a new pair of springs help the sled to sit up higher?
The springs on my front shocks are set about as high as they will go and my 02 Viper ER still sits low.
Will rebulding the shocks help it to sit up higher?

02VIPER ER... after looking at your avatar I would definately say that your front end is sagged. It almost looks like a drag sled! I would definately get the shocks rebuilt, and if it still isn't sitting up enough, then get new springs.02VIPER ER said:So would buying a new pair of springs help the sled to sit up higher?

thanks sasksrx
now should I buy the same springs or get stiffer ones?

I don't know what is available for a stiffer spring for that shock. I would get them rebuilt and see what happens from there. Your springs might be weak too, and if you can't find any stiffer ones maybe you will just have to get new stock springs. I have viper radius rods and 17 1/2" shocks which I think are close to your viper shock length on my srx and I have about 9 1/2" clearance under my bellypan. But I don't know if you could go by that. I would try to find out what kind of clearance you are supposed to have from someone on site here with a viper then you will know where you should be at when your front end is sitting up properly. Truckkid42 ... I would give you the same advice with your sled. Then you would know for sure.02VIPER ER said:thanks sasksrx

I agree with sasksrx. Your front looks low. My 02 Viper ER sits much higher and it is all stock. I can check height for you in a day or so, its stored at a friends right now...
Check the limiter straps on the front of suspension. May be tightened up to get more ski pressure, my cousin ran his this way. Puts more down pressure on front and it may sit a little lower, may have caused some premature weakening of shock springs. Olins will definitely be a plus on front end if you can find a pair. Have ridden both 02 w/o and my 04 "S" with and there is a big difference, but ride heights are really same.
