Thermo Sensor Wire on 97 SX 700

On my uncles 97 SX 700, the wire that plugs into the thermo sensor on the head is broken. Does anyone know if just the connecting wire that plugs into the sensor can be replaced or is it the entire wiring harness? Thanks for your help.

seems as though a replacement of sorts is available, but here is what i did on a 2000 model. carefully you can disect the plug, remove the wire connector, and re-attach it. there are some small rubber sealers that have a barbed like outer edge that pushes into the plastic body of the plug, these are the worst part to overcome. take it apart and play with it a bit and you can repair it. did mine several years back and every once in a while you have to wiggle it, but it can be done and it does work.
