right know i'm running a 2000 srx on ashpalt. i was going to switch my air jets from 1.0 to 0.8. my pilots are 50's. pto side 157.5 mid 155. right 153.8. and thats with the temperatures above 20 C. any cooler she gets alittle lean and starts slowing down. just wondering when switch my air jets what i should use for main jets.

wheres the needles at? with airbox or without? on the tar, theres no need for the airbox, very minimal if any dust at all.

raise the needles a little, will richen it up thru middle and topend, may pick up mph this way. try clip in the 4th groove but both shims on top of clip.

Is the motor stock?

the engine has the heads shaved .010" and the ignition timing advanced until it hits the bolt. thats it as far as i have done.

I see, I think youll find the advanced timing will actually hurt the topend performance on asphalt in the 1320, now if your only running 660'-1/8 mile it will help. Its also why your lean up top with bigger jets in warmer weather. I would raise the needles if it were me and try to give the sled some more fuel thru out the range, then begin to take the timing back and see if you pick up more on the bigend. Fuel is mph on the tar. What kind of times are you running and whats your mph gain from 660"-1320' if running the 1/4?

One thing to remember is advanced ign. timing puts heat in the pistons, retarded timing puts heat in the pipes.

it runs 11.2s at 110mph in 1/4. 1.45s at the 60 foot. 6.87 at 94mph in the 1/8. so i gaining 16mph from the 1/8 to the 1/4. so would change the air jets to 0.8?

no, I would raise the needles.

ADD: the airjets are more for idle and low speed tuning. I would go with raising the needles because you are pretty much wide open after the bulb comes on, so youll be richer thru out the range and raising the needles will allow the main jet to flow more fuel because the taper is further up and away from the jet.

awesome! thanks for the advice i will raise the needles and play with the timing. and we will see how she runs.

instead of questioning the set-up i gave you why dont you just try it. mine went 10.60 at 119. 6.60 in the 8th.

because i didn't get my air jets in to put them in. and i seems to be winning with the way it is running so i didn't what to change much just keep it from going lean in coolwer weather. and you also didn't tell what your times where ruuning. and just wondering has been done to you sled for performance up grades?

what clutching set up and gear do u have juste to give me a hint for the drag
