thinking of building an srx for some fun grass drags and am wondering if anyone has run a firecat track in one? When you stretch to a 128" do you have to remove the rear exchanger? I also assume the transfer rods will have to be taken right out so the upper idlers can be moved in, has anyone ran without the transfer rods and just strapped the rear down? I would assume you could limit the transfer further than with the rods this way. Thanks
wouldnt it catwalk to the moon with no transfer rods?? You probably couldnt run outer idlers as well.
need to work the whole skid in sled not just the track.. to make it work right....

want to run the stock skid with rail extensions..has no one done this for a grass application or otherwise? thanks

I'm thinkin no. The SRX skid with the short travel shocks is just about perfect for drags so why would you want to go through the headache of installing a longer, narrower skid with more travel???

I have run a 128" Camoplast track on a Yammy a few seasons back. It was set up for trail use not drags though.. All I can say is the heat exchanger is positioned perfectly for the rear wheels to bump up against it. I tried to stiffen the suspension up so it wouldn't make contact! Wrong move.. Did it right the second time. Extended the tunnel a few inches and moved the exchanger.

jabber800 I was thinking of removing the rear exchanger and hooking up cool down connects there. Would that buy me enough room?

No problem clearing with it out. Mine ran for weeks before I had a nice green path behind the sled..

any idea about removing the transfer rods so that I can run the 10.5 wide track?

Never did that so your on your own there..

After straping the skid down put a axle perferably with 2 rubber stops right behind the smaller swing mount so it can not go back any farther. You can use the old holes were the transfer rods used to bolt on if you have the right size rubbers. This will mimic other style skids that you can turn the blocks to limit or increase transfer.

been there done that with a 13" wide track.
change the spacers around on the upper idlers off of the transfer rods to bring them in slightly. youll have to add a tunnel extension or remove the rear heat exchanger or run 9" rear idler wheels with custom spacers on the outside rear idlers.
10.5" wont work with that skid.

I did not know that there was a 13" track?? I thought there was only 10.5", 14" from the phazers etc. and 15" wide. I also thought the 14" tracks were a bolt on and go.

Sorry, 13.5".
Yeah 14" are a bolt and go but the rear outer idlers should be narrowed a bit for hard cornering.
