Hi guys, just wondering if anyone knows of a primer kit for the 2001 SRX 700. I can't take another winter of hard starting and I think a primer would solve my problems. Thanks!

thought of that to.Check your reeds. If they are not sealing tightly..starting will be harder. After putting new ones in last serason,my SRX seems to start in way less pulls..especially when trying to start after carbs are empty after a cleaning.

I had the same problem also last winter hard starting and my problem turn out to be the stator now with a new one installed 3 pulls is all I need

I'm sure the primer would help :letitsnow

I would suggest you search + check out "y srx hard to start and not vipers" in the forum...lots of good info there.

I can't see it just being a stator causing the problem.Vipers and SRX stators are the same part numbers..so why is Viper still easier to start.Even my SXR is easier to start.
All I can tell you is that when I cleaned the carbs and put them back on empty without gas,It used to take me like 80 pulls to get her started and sometimes had to put gas down the plugs.
Then I replaced the reeds and again with empty carbs took about 24 pulls to start up..something helped with the new reeds.
Could be a combination of things..fuel pump, stator, reeds, compression, etc. Oh yeah and the gas you purchased also!!! :o|

Thanks for the info guys. I never thought about the stator being a possible culprit. Are these a common problem on the SRX? Mine is a 2001 700.
I will check the reeds when I start my overhaul in the fall. I am going to pull the motor and check the harness because I had some intermittant problems last winter, sometimes it would start and none of the gauges or lights would work. Through fiddling around with the wires and sometimes restarting, it would clear up.
I did install a new fuel pump last winter, checked and rechecked chokes, and checked compression, and it was 130 across. And yes carbs were cleaned and syncd.
There must be a primer kit though that could be installed. I want to do everything I can to help it start better before it gets cold. I don't mind having to pull extra after cleaning carbs as this is just the nature of the beast, but in -25 pulling 30 or 40 times is pretty hard on the shoulder and very frustrating.
Thanks for the help!

New stator didn't help my 2000

My 2000 700SRX started very hard when cold before and after I put a new stator in. No difference. Still starts hard.

I honestly cant say i had a hard time staring it, normally after 2-3 pulls it would start in the winter. maybe the first pull of the year i can see it being hard same with empty carbs. i guess ive been lucky so far ?

Already dreaming of sledding and I still need to rebuild the top end... -.-

hell im looking forward to pulling her over wether its 5 pulls or 50... hahaha...

Like some one said in the first page... search why srx's are harder to start then vipers.Loads of info

I have a primer bulb ran from tank outlet to fuel pump inlet. I pump until I see gas in the fuel lines then a couple more to fill the bowls and she usually pops in 3-6 pulls after that. I don't pull till I'm dizzy anymore:)
