i just stuck couple studs in.....real world height over the lugs of a hacksaw is this
the 1.250 extreme studs...... .330" is above the lug
the 1.175 roetin studs.......... .4375" is above the studs
i plan on doing 144 in woodys pattern down the middle...which should i go with?

Odd that the 1.175 Roetin stands taller above the lug than the 1.250 Extreme. Defies logic if everyone is using the same ruler.
Anywho I've always been told to not go over .250 above the lug for trail. The reasoning is that first, to tall of a stud puts too much stress to where it mounts to the rubber and will be more prone to track damage. Second is that unless the taller stud can sink in and hold without bending the extra length does no good.
I use Woodys Gold with the large aluminum round backers at .250 above the lug and have had great success. Never a pull through, bend, break or lose of backer. Bite is great and they last.
