Well I started to have this problem at the end of last season.
Its an 01 srx stock engine lots of miles rebuilt a few thousand miles ago. The problem is when the sled gets warm it starts to cut out at WOT. The tach bounces crazy all over the place and it seems like intermittin spark. When its cold it runs perfect, I checked the wiring harness for a rub through, only found one and fixed it. Im guessing its an electrical part thats on the way out but dont know where to start.
Anyone got a starting point?

Check plug caps, wires,, than work your way back,, may go to stator..........good luck let us know.....
check the top hat filter under the float valve ...had that problem took for ever to figure it out

I was thinking stator aswell but what kind of got me off that track was USUALLY when you have stator problems things get haywire if you run the brights and such. I tried running with the harness unplugged but had the same results. I know its gotta be electrical and nothing really mechanical because of the tach issue. It will bounce from 8400 to 4000 and just crazy.

just a note- to test if the stator is bad just disconnect volt regulator and hook a 12v battery to the sled side wire harness red and black on that connector, if it runs good- disconnect the battery you wired into the connector ad hook ur volt reg back up- if it runs bad again- there u go!

alot of times the stator will test fine cold and bad hot, i'd lean towards the stator as well since it starts running bad when hot

This seems like a good way to test. Basically I guess you have AC power going from your Stator directly to you Voltage Regulator/Rectifier. Does everything else on the sled run on DC power. If so this should work.
I guess stator as well. Get it warm and reproducing the problem, then test as directed in the manual. It is very easy to do if you are used to using a multimeter.
