02 srx engine in a 98 chassis ????

What do I need besides the engine from the 02? What wiring needs to change? Can I put the 02 headlight in the 98 hood? I have a 98 with a bad cylinder and an 02 that is crashed. Any help is greatly appreciated

i belive all you need is the engine ,wire harness ,and cdi box ...also i belive the dual headlight will mount on the 98 hood but you will need to change the guage pod with it ..other than that i think that is all you will need to change pretty simple swap ..but others will chime in if i am forgetting something

thank you for the help. I heard something about some years being negative ground and others being posative ground so all wires must be changed anyone have any info on that?

I have done this, friend of mine put an 02 motor in a 98 mtn srx.

You need ALL electrical, including the 02 panel with rheostats for the warmers, also the seat plug for the tail light is different. you also need a dual bulb windshield and 02 gauge pod with the DCS light. You will have to drill an extra hole for the 02 CDI because it is wider and the bolt holes on the 98 will not line up with the 02 CDI

you will have to drill a hole or find a means to mount the servo motor where the 02 has it unlike the 98 where it was mounted on the air box.

Your looking at 4 years of updates in the conversion

Do not attempt to use any electrical from the 98

I think what your referringto is the 98-99 srx used a ac current, the 2000-02 uses dc on the lighting system.
