We are looking for different place to have some TY rides this year and north western wisconsin has been on our minds.
This will make it easier for some of our Minnesota Tyers to be able to make it on one of the rides. I have been doing some research on hotels but would like a little more input. I found 2 hotels in rice lake. A best western and an AmericInn. does anyone know how close they are to trails? If there is any nightlife nearby or if anyone has any other suggestions We would love to look into our options!
Thanks for your help!

Hey Mark.. I'm trying to message you.. Please respond.. Thanks... Gary o

I rode up in sawyer county and bayfield county is last season and it was awesome great trails. Check into the Hayward and Cable areas should be some good motels there. Rice Lake would be a good place also but not sure if there is access to trails from hotels but if you called them they could probably tell you. Keep us posted would be very interested in attending.

Theres a BEAUTIFUL resort in Cable Wisconsin... I'll try and find out the name...

Lakewoods Resort, Cable, Wisconsin

It's on Lake Namakogin (probably spelled wrong) .Or am I thinking of Telemark resort? There is a smaller resort directly north across the lake that we discovered that is very nice and a bit cheaper also. Will try to remember the name today during work. No garentees though with my memory.

Check out Grand Pines Resort, in Hayward. (Home of the Famous Daves) The resort has cabins, they also have a small Hotel down the road about 1/2 mile (About 12 rooms) right on the trail and lake, large park in lot a few bars in the area within 1/2 mile. and the Casino is about 5 Miles away. You could stay at the Casino also they are on the trail and have gas there. Awesome trails in the area and alot of lake racing. We made 4 Trips to that area last year. Check out Trap n fish resort in Winter Wi. also. Nice rooms and is cheap in price.

we have been staying at lakewoods since '85. its right on huge lake which has several bars. if you stay at the resort they have a nice bar and indoor pool plus restaurant. they also have condos or cabins near by as well. in the last 3 years the trails have improved significantly in that area.

We were at Lakewoods last year and watched 4 Airplanes land on the lake. They have a nice Bar inside there with good food, and gas outside. Awesome place but it's alittle $$$$$$$

Thats what i was thinking TELEMARK resort... I think they are having some issues though.. I've seen blogs about it closing in May.... I dunno???? any info????

These are all great ideas! Keep in mind we are going to need a decent sized place. if this ride goes over good, which it sounds like it might, we could be booking 20 or more rooms at a hotel. cabins would be rough for a group this size and it is also nice to have a gathering place for mornings and evening social time.

TY ride

There are a few places to stay on and around Lake Namekagon. Lakewoods Resort is right on the lake, Garmish Resort is also on the lake. Telemark is very close to both of those resorts but NOT on the lake. Telemark has been having problems and may not even be open anymore. There is a small resort by the name of Four Seasons on the opposite side of the lake with cabins for rent. There is also a website www.cable4fun.com with private rental properties with several of them being on Lake Namekagon.
Bayfield and Sawyer counties have very nice trails and are kept well groomed based on the amount of snow. From the Cable area you can put on a lot of miles in one day. Up to Iron River (WI.), Port Wing, Valhalla and so on. I live in the area and would be happy to share information with anyone that needs it.
Lake Namekagon is a chain of lakes that total about 3,300 acres and have trail signs on the lake trails. It has several restaurants and bars on and around it.
Good luck.

It's been quite some time, but I seem to remember a old rail bed converted to trail that was well maintained.

The rail trail is very nice and is pretty well maintained throughout the winter. There are many trails that feed onto/off-of this trail that take you up into the finger of upper Wi and some that go down to Hayward. All of the trails are well marked and well maintained.

Lake Namakagon is also where the have the weenie roast. Pretty big event. There is a place called the Namakagon Chief which is the H.Q. for Vmax4.com Fun place. Stop in and have a couple with CaptJager.

NW Wisconsin would be a great location. I would look north of Cable in the Iron River area. Great trails and lots of fire roads to ride. Plus they tend to get more snow up on the Hill on the Bayfield Pennisula. With more reliable snow conditions it would be less likely to be cancelled.

I've rode Iron River/Bayfield area for years. Great trails, low traffic, and usually have better snow conditions than most other area's. Also, easy place to get to for you MI riders.

im in Solon springs . theirs a motel here . we have been riding from here north for the last few years as south has been poor . last year Hayward was poor . until we went north
