I just bought a 01 sxr 700...guy i bought it from just lost his job...sad as it may be. Had the sled sent into bender racing last year. They completely rebuilt the motor top to bottom. Bender put trail ported cylinders, heads and pistons in it. Just went through and put all new bearings and a new 1.25 ripsaw. Now im thinking about putting a bender clutch kit in it. Good idea, bad idea. Any opinions?

i haven't put it up and checked engagement yet, but the guy i bought it off said that the clutching was off. Im pretty fresh at clutching, just bought my first two sleds, was thinking that a bender clutch kit would sync with the rebuild...

p.s. just realized this thread is in the wrong section...haha

Bender Racing is a bitch to get a hold of. I tried calling them for 3 days finally got ahold of them and THE PHONE DIED. Said screw this, called Hauck Powersports they hooked me up. #4 clutch kit.

DON'T BUY A CLUTCH KIT!!!! FROM ANYBODY!!! just put together your own kit, from guys on here in the classifieds or whatever. there are many guys on here that can help you out w/clutching, and you will see better gains w/your own pieced together setup than w/some purchased kit from a shop. just my .02

i take it you put that hauck kit on your srx...what kind of results did you see?

Haven't installed and tested yet. It's calibrated for winter not grass. I had a pretty good conversation with them before i closed the deal. Told him who i was where i'm from and what I'm after. This is what he sent me: Hauck G helix, 89a-10 weights (dont recall off hand how many grams exactly), black hauck primary spring and silver hauck secondary.

JOSH IS DEAD ON HERE. LOOK EVEN IF YOUR LEARY ABOUT WHAT ONE TELLS YA TO RUN, CHECK OUT THE CLUTCH SET-UP PAGE HERE. ITS NOT LIKE NOBODY HERE EVER RAN A SXr WITH PIPES. FIRST YOU WILL SAVE A TON ON THE OVERALL COST AND MOST INPORTANT, YOU WILL LEARN. 3:16 (yammie tony)

SRXR700- What these guys ae saying is true. You will save alot of money peicing together your own kit. I have more money than time so i opted to by a kit (I did have the loaded 8dn-20/www/green setup) If the kit sucks oh well, i'll sell it to some kid for 500 bucks and tell him it like a turbo for 2-strokes. lol j/k i doubt it will "suck" Hauck didn't just fall of the turnip truck.

any srx clutch set up is way too agressive for any sx ; even with pipes.

I wasn't suggesting he run an SRX setup. They have #4 kits for SXs too.

right, they have no bottom end torque to even be able to pull any heavy or aggressive weights outta the hole. i messed w/a cpr piped 700 sx-r last year and hated it. glad i got power valved machines. i know the pipes had a lot to do w/it, but still, stock clutching was almost spot on, even w/the pipes.

WHAT THE HELL, I,LL SHOOT FROM MY HIP.
W-W-W
8CA WEIGHTS.
MAYBE AROUND 48 GRAMS.
LETS SAY A 52-42 CAM WITH A GREEN SPRING AT 70 TWIST. WHAT YA THINK. 3:16 (yammie tony)

8ab weights.
50/44 helix
2.4 gram rivet in tip oughta be close.
My bender piped ported 700 sx-r had a hard time pulling 8ca,s with a steep helix & very little tip weight.
The Hauck/cpr pipes won,t pull much primary weight.
The benders & power inc,s will pull 4-5 grams primary weightmore with a similar secondary set up.

yeah, this sx-r i was playing with, only wanted like 47.5g or so, with a 48/42 helix. it would have a hard time pulling 8ab's or 8ca's. this sled wasn't ported either. only drilled airbox lid, reed spacers, and cpr pipes.

i also played w/some polaris weights on it. i think they were 10m, which started out at 49.5g and w/the tips ground down to clear the spyder, then weighed 47.5g or like 47g.

Sleds got stock exhaust and can...had a set of psi triples on it with the gooseneck silencers...but took them off. Too loud, this is just my trail sled. This thing is fresh. Motor absolutely sound flawless. Just took my 1.25 ripsaw off my srx that im modding and installed it on this one. Im sure this changes a few of the earlier posts from the yamaha experts....
