Hey guys just wondering if anyone has tryed to advance the timing on the stock srx for radars and assphalt racing and if you gained anything.
I had herd through the grate vine to get as much timing you can on assphalt.

depends on distance, for 500ft-660ft(1/8 mile),yes, timing helps, stretch out the distance to 1000ft-1320ft(1/4 mile) and the increased timing slows the same sled down. More adavnced ign. timing puts more heat into the piston, retarded timing puts more heat into the pipe. If your bored read on the internet about pipe temps and peak rpm on a 2stroke and youll find your answer.

so for the 1/8 mile would you go with the viper box or is it too much timing?
I am planning on going to a couple radar runs in the winter then te sled will be set up for the assphalt for 1/8 mile. I have the engine apart right now just to go over everything inside. I'm looking at stuff to check and do before I reassemble.

I would use a offset keyway for 660 tar racing. viper box too much timing at 8500rpm.

you could still use a small keyway for radar but be very aware its gonna require MORE fuel or "mr. squeeky piston" will surely visit you sooner then later. It will only be thru testing to see if the added timing will actually improve your speed or alot of times hurt it.

you see.. theres no such thing as a sled that can do it all, once you set it up to do well in drags, its set up for drags.. not radar, tar racing, oval racing, trail riding all in one with no changes to be made for paticular type of racing/riding your going to be doing..
Youll have to be able to accept that going into this or run it bone stock and just deal with losing the race :o|

the sled is going to be a tar sled after this winter and I'm just starting to get my stuff now so I can be ready for next spring. It is probably its last winter. How many degrees do you think for 660 and where can you get the offset key?

just bump this question up will it be worth it to advance timing on a srx for 660ft snow drags
