Are there any benefits of running a 8t vs a 9t other than getting more clearance?

No. The only reason to go with a smaller driver is for clearance.
8 tooth is less efficient & you lose deep snow performance & top speed due to a steeper approach angle even if you gear it the same as 9 tooth.

stick with the 9 tooth unless you are trying to get clearance,
Some guys go to 10 tooth drivers for more efficiency for drag races.

8 tooth makes it easier to jump your track also, gotta run it banjoe tight or use anti ratchets. definitely stay as big as possible and still have the clearance you need.

u may have 2 rool ur chain case if ur trying 2 put any thing more than 1 1/2 paddle track, agree with the bigger wheels allways less rolling resistance. equals more speed.
