total noob here thinking about getting into sledding. after a little research i think this is the sled i'd really like to have. i've seen great price variations and was looking for opinions on what would be a decent price to pay for a new one. if i get this i have a lot to learn that's for sure. as best i can tell the 2011 is only available in one color scheme and i prefer the candy red color. also wondering what if any changes are known to have been made between the 2010 and 2011. i'm in NJ so is seems the price is going to be a little higher then out west or north. barring this i may continue looking for a used sled, there was a local guy that had a 2007 attack for a good price but unfortunately when i called it had been sold. thanks

As near as I can tell, from 2010 to 2011, the only difference is the color. I prefer the 2010 in blue, so I may search as well. The 2010 gave you EFI, which is very snappy, better cooling, better hamdwarmers etc. The 2010s are seeing decent discounts, 2011 not so much. I was surprised that in the latest wave of snow mags, there were no real sled advertisements from the big 4, no rebates etc.
My guess is that they saw the writing on the wall concerning the ecomomic times world wide, and cut down the production numbers.
If Yamaha does offer decent rebates or an extended warrenty, I may make the leap to a 2010 Vector or Nytro. I just hate selling/ giving away my 2004 Viper S, and I can't justify having two sleds.
Good luck hunting.

thanks crewchief. i had actually posted the same question on the RS forum but hadn't gotten any replies. just figure the boards were a little slow this time of year and the general forum would have more traffic. i'm kinda chompin at the bit to get a sled before my better judgment takes over. where i live isn't exactly sledding country so you need to make a fairly long trip to get decent usage from one. only ever rode one 35 years ago (650 johnson iirc) but clearly remember loving it. been riding dirt / street bikes and running drag bikes and dragsters...need a winter toy ;-)

Look around,, maybe even a non current new model,,, My brother picked up a new 2005 vector last year for $5,500,,, that thing is gonna run as long as a new one, without, IMO much change in design.....
