I'm trying to match up some SRX cylinders and have a question.

8DN10 with power valve housing pins - probably 2000 thru 2003.
8DN00 without power valve housing pins - probably 1998 & 1999.

But then I have 8DN(blank) with power valve housing pins that came off of a '98 sled. Are these '98 jugs?

99 started the pins for the power valves, but would still say 8dn00, the 8dn10 were 2000-02.

youd have to check the transfer ports to see what year the blank is

Don, maybe a better question is if the '98 and '01 cylinders will match up after a porting job?

well... they could, youd have to match the 98-99 cylinder transfer ports to the 2000-02 and then deck them(bottom) to get back to the 98-99 cylinder heigth.

mrviper, just wondering why you say to deck the cylinder bases, to get back to '98-'99 cyl height? i believe cylinder height is the same on all 700 srx cyl's, regardless of the year. the only difference is port timing. so, if he wanted to make '98-'99 srx 700 cyl's have same port timing as '00-'02 cyl's, he would have to raise all transfers, aux exh ports, and boost port .5mm (.020"), and raise the main exh port 1.1mm (.043") and not have to deck the cyl bases. am i misunderstanding the conversation here? not trying to argue, just trying to get clarification.

wildmax, you can even port srx cyl's to be like viper specs.

youd deck the bottom to reduce the port heigth of the transfers on 200-02 back to the 98-99 spec.
you would trim all of them to be the same, just touch up tops of transfers to all be exact on 98-99 cylinder since its lower already and the added benefit would be reduced deck clearance.

Oh, gotcha. I understand now....u were talking about making '00-'02 cyl's into '98-'99 cyl's. I follow fully now. If he goes that route, he'll have to double check the trapped volume and if he has cut heads already, really double check the trapped volume.
