Last year I did a custom track extension from the stock 121" to 136"x15"x1.5", 8 tooth drivers from a phazer, still got stock gears in there and it wont shift even with the track off the ground it bogs out at like 6900RPM, has a DG pipe, modded airbox, clutches are tuned/serviced, engages beauty @ 3800RPM, but ya it'll go like snot untill it gets to like 6900 then it bogs cuz i think the gears wont let it rev any higher and ya it wont shift.... I know I should at least slam some phazer II 136" gears in there but I just want some feedback cuz I'll have to order gears online and I don't want to get the wrong ones....
Any feedback is muchly appreciated!!!

Im not sure that your gears are the problem if your getting a bog at 6800 RPM on the stand. The motor should rev up normally no matter what gears you have in it when its not under a load.
With that being said, 8 tooth drivers is gearing down (larger number numerically) the sled and would make the sled accelerate much quicker and get the power band quicker so I really dont think thats your problem
I would start with the carbs. sounds like the mains or a stuck or partially stuck choke

Well ya I know the smaller drivers geared it down, and have tried screwing around with secondary settings and still the same... so ya maybe your right, could be something simply underminded in the carbs.. I'll pop em off n rip em right apart once again.... lol damn exciter sure as hell hasn't been exciting in awhile... well its nutty untill it boggs haha...
Thanks alot for the input man I'll keep ya posted, even take a video for ya...

Hey no problem, I hope thats your problem and not something else.
If the phazer II you speak of came with 9 tooth drivers, you are probably close to where you want to be at with 8 tooth drivers in your sled with the stock gearing since they gear down the factory 136 sleds at the factory.
If you are wanting to achieve the exact same ratio you were at with 9 tooth drivers, go up 2 teeth on the top gear and subtract 1 tooth from the bottom
Not sure what riding you do but 1 of those combos will work for ya,

Excellent info thanks alot! Ya my Exciter II came with 9 tooth drivers, not sure what gearing I want cuz my damn sled wont go fast enough for me to determine if I like where its @ or not, lol, I do rat the trails, but usually only to get to a destination, I want this sled geared for boondocking, mountain climbing & deep snow, I was thinkin about buyin a new sled this year but I just know if I can get this thing tuned up just right she'll fly up the slopes, she just floats with the wide skis and big track, just need my powerband....

No lack in fuel, all jet tests revealed golden plugs and I adjust jets regularly to compensate for altitude & temperature.
Will be working on it this week, will keep you guys informed & will get some photos up for ya guys.

not sure if your motor is reed valve or piston port but another thing to look at is your reeds if they are in there. Check for cracks/holes in the carb boots. Also, I would not rule out the possibility of a crank seal leaking on PTO or MAG cylinder. That is a vintage sled you have and some of those things mentioned might need freshening up.

No reeds, but ya good idea on checking the seals, I'll post soon on what/if I find anything..

I have a 92 exciter 570 l/c w/ 7 tooth drivers 131x1 1/2 track, would gearing down help w/ powder sledding?
also, i am putting in a Big 10 suspension out of a polaris, i have measured about a hundred times, it seams it will bolt right in, what i am having touble figuring out is the ride angle (nose dive) the rear will rais almost 8 inches, middle of sled will raise about 5 inches, what can i do to raise the pogo's?

Hey, just about to head to the garage n work on the sled, if can't find anything with my carbs, got some a/c 600 carbs to try out, gonna pull my skid also and double check all the bearings and look for anything putting excessive stress on the track. I'll keep ya posted, got lotsa pics to post also but i have like 40 so i'll need to make a webpage or youtube slideshow haha

So I didn't find anything dirty or pluggin up the carbs, all adjustments were ok, was thinkin maybe my "TORS" coul dhave been acting up?? did have a catastrophic event tho, broke a carb needle, and ya wont be able to get one... so looks like a/c 600 carbs w/ k&n's is the solution, should be ok, my buddy had them on his 89 phazer and they worked great with proper jetting. Also, idler wheel bearings are stiff, gonna replace all skid bearings, and seems to be rubbing marks on my center coolers up near the front, so i'm gonna drop down to 7 tooth drivers and mabye go up a bit on paddles like 1.75" currently @ 1.5". I'll keep ya posted, should have it all finished by mid-weekend and I'll test er out...

OKAY, so before I could continue with my diagnosis... I found a better solution...
Just purchased an A/C Wildcat 700 EFI from a friend for $400 & the motor is going into my exciter, only problem I have run into so far is finding a y-pipe & pipe(s) that will fit in the exciter so I can still have my stock look!, but it should be failey easy, engine is the exact same width, the engine has 125-135hp stock. so this will be a beast from hell!!!!
Am opening a new thread on the topic so ya cya there if u want info and pics..
