Hey guys has anybody put a 159" track on a mountain max and used rail extensions. i am thinking that is a bit too long of an extension. just wondering if anybody has done or had any experience with it. question 2 :P has anybody had any experience with a "ported" track?

I ran a 121 skid with extensions to a 144 which is a bit longer than what you are thinking of doing. I never had any issues with it.

As for the ported tracks, there are lots of differing opinions on that one. Some like them, some don't. Couple of years ago my family was out in Cooke. We had 2 cats that were set up pretty similar, one ported track and one not. Also had to yamahas that were very similar, again one ported track and one not. The amount snow that was carried in the skids of the non-ported tracked sled was so much greater. As for climbing differences, the ported tracks were going higher up the hill, but both of those sleds were set up a little hotter and had better riders on them so they should have went higher. That's my experience with it. As for durability, we have had no issue with our ported tracks and I run them here in MN and out west.

there was more snow in the skid of the ported one?i can get a like new 151 ported for $240 i just gotta add more clips to make it wat i need. will think about the 159 would be nice to get more track to the ground i think :P

I Have Seen Quite A Few 159" Tracks On 141" Rails With Extentions And It Will Work. As Far As The Ported Track Goes I Believe That A Ported Track Will Allow More Snow To Evacuate Out Of The Skid, It Will Rotate Easier, And It Is Less Rotating Mass.
