Changing slidders without removing skid

I saw in the tech pages a way to change my sledders but my dealer said that my sleds track has too narrow of window, is this true or just another dealer trying to make some extra money?? I have a 2001 MM 700. Any help would be great,
 
i have a 98 sx and i dont have to dp anything to the track. take the slides a put them up to a window and see if there is enough room for them to fit in. thats the only way to really tell.
 
I just slide them out the window after loosening the track on my 2000 Vmax 700. Check the openings in your track and see if they are wide enough for the hyfax to slide in.

When I removed mine with the small windows, I losened the track up a little and got the slide to stick out like 3 inches. Then I took a vice grip or anything with power and twisted it vertically so it would fit through no problem, it is a little difficult but you can get it out.
 
I put some dawn liquid soap on mine to make them slide in easier too, plus it cleans the rails too as an added bonus :D
 
when i installed my 136" ripsaw at my buddies house i forgot my new slides at home. when i got home i set it on its side and started working on the slides and also found the hole was to small for the slides. i have extensions on my skid so i had about 8" of slide before i hit the track so i just cut them every 8" as i took them off.

when instaling the new ones i just forced them through the track. its alot easier to fit them from the outside cause u can wiggle them around. just getting them out is a pain in the rear
 
could you just notch one window on each side of the track enough to allow the slider to fit through?I just run a screw driver in from the rear enough to pull the back of the slider down off the rail,get it part way through the track window,then turn the track backwards,walks the sliders of with ease.to install,I clean the rail then spray the groove of the slide with a product called PB Blaster(best penatrating oil ever)they slide on super easy.-Harvey
 
i use motor oil on the slide and lube up the window real good (slides very easily through window) so that way the oil stays trapped between the slide and the rail for easy removal when your ready for new slides again
 
i've an 02 mm700 and b4 that an 00 mm600 no problem pullin slides out the window just make sure that you don't strip the screws at the curve of the rail(front) that hold them up. they may have locktight in them!!!
 
If its stock it will go thru the windows. Lub it up so you can slide them out. Sometimes they are a pain. Good luck Brent ;)!
