Well, Gota question. In my build I asked the question if leaving the heat shields off my pipes after I ceramic coated them would be a bad idea. I was wondering because I noticed that it seemed the insulation holds moisture and made my pipes rust more, plus all the insulation is all wore threw and no good anymore. My main concern was that I would start melting plasic and discoloring hood paint but now it has been brought up that they are there to keep the pipes warm possibly for performance. So what is your guys educated opinion on this one?
I run ceramic coated Aaens with no heat damage issues.
[from memory]...One issue you may encounter is that at least one of the stock SRX pipes rubber vibration isolator/mounts attaches to the heat sheilds so you may have to do some mount adaption/fabrication to allow the pipes to sit securly/properly.
