people are telling me that here in MAine in order to register your snowmobile this year you have to show proof of insurance on it. is it true? if so looks like ill be paying a fine

No that is false. You don't have to have insurance. There as a bill at one time being tossed around but I believe it got voted down. My brother registered his warrior about two weeks ago and didn't show proof of insurance even thou he has it.
