Ever buy dirty parts? I got an oil tank off of ebay, granted it was cheaper than the others on there but that thing was filthy. It only took about 5 minutes to clean it up and it looks great but why would someone try to sell something dirty? I figured it was worth the risk of it having something wrong with it as it was the cheapest one out there by far. They guy could have easily got more if he put 5 minutes into it. Guess I shouldn't complain as I got the benefit of it being cheap.

Just don't understand some people.

i agree. thats one of my pet peaves. like you said, only takes a minute to clean most stuff up. it always makes me wonder what kind of care their sleds recieve based on the filth, or what their shops look like. not to mention how dirty their hands are when they go to package the parts. i have recieved packaging with greasy hand prints all over.

I always do the best I can to clean the parts before I ship them or at least clean them up for a photo. I want a lasting impression to somebody that receives parts from me.

Now, what about say for example the seller warns that "some parts may need to be cleaned before installing or assembly", if the seller quickly took a part off for you like a greasy chain case or a set of cylinders, power valves, or a slimy wiring harness that you needed shipped right away I could understand

I hear you but not the case here. This was a 7 or 10 day auction. I shouldn't complain as I got it cheap and put it in last weekend. I think that was my source of my leaking 2-stroke oil.

We live in a self-centered society today. Parenting techniques widely used in the past 20 - 30 years have created society members who feel entitled to many things and not accountable for the affect their actions have on others. This is an "All about me world" we live in today. I wonder how far it will go before the USA simply self destructs. Likely long after I am gone.

Sorry for the editorial, but a topic I have studied at length . . .

I have no problem with dirt if the price is right.

I have found that dirt has almost always been in the equasion when I buy something really good for "dirt' (pun intended). I have also made real good $ by cleaning said "dirt" and reselling certian items.

Sooooo. In short. Dirt can be a very good thing if you know how to use it.

I remember one of my first posts on this forum was, is it safe to pressure wash the engine bay of my SRX with the engine/electronics still in there. I almost didnt post that topic as most people that I see/talk to look at me like I have two heads when I talk about wanting a clean engine bay. I was very surprised(glad) to see that most of the members of this forum take a lot of pride in the cleanliness and top maintained condition of their machines.

Like you said though, if he would have cleaned it, you would have paid more for it.
