i notice nobody ever talks about these sleds I had a 96xt and thought it rode great compared to my friends 95 cat ext i know that the non xt versions basically had the old srv rear suspension and wheren't as good. did anybody mount something else under the back of these? like a later proaction or something? I can get a clean 95 500 for 450 bucks what's the opinion on these overall? was looking for a older Phazer for my son (14) but it' hard to come by a non beat one.
 
Last year I bought a 95 vmax600 for my first sled and loved it, the only thing i dont like is the pogo suspension . Not the best on gas but shes been very reliable i assume a 500 would be the same.
 
i got a 94 500 and I love it. Rear suspension aint great, I got no problems with the pogos, but all my sleds have them so I have nothing to compare to.
 
I have a 96 V-max XT, and one thing I can say about it is that it is VERY reliable...It always starts,And runs like a champ and it's a fsat enough sled....Not breaking any speed record's but it goes fast enough for my girlfriend....I went from a 81 cat Pantera to the V-max I thought it was the greatest suspention ever made...Then I got my VIPER with a M-10 under it love it....But I do still take out the V-max sometimes...Just to appriciate how technology has changed...Gerat sleds I will NEVER sell it....
 
practically indestructible. Ive owned a 600 a couple 750s and an 800. but the first thing i do on the short travel (not xt) sleds is change the suspension.. good price btw
 
My dad has as 94 and one of the first things we did was change it over to have an xt skid like mine, rides a lot better and wasn't that bad of a swap.
