viper temperature gauge install?

I just got an Auto meter car water temp gauge. can i just unplug and unscrew the fitting for the idiot light and screw in the fitting that came with the gauge?? I know there are those Tee fittings out there, anyone know exactly which one will work if i can't screw that fitting???

i dont think you can remove the stock sensor ..i belive it tells the cdi box engine temp .....best bet is to install a t fitting ...

Wow now you have me thinking. I used the fitting that came with my digital temp gauge. Never gave a second thought that it may require a Yamaha only sensor. I guess we will have to verify with a thermometer this winter. I'm thinking the temp sensor will be good though.
