Here she is my 1974 SM292F sled it looks a little rough because the seat needs to be redone and the hood needs some work but anything that been around since 74 by now is showing its age. My plans are to recover the seat this year cleaning up the sled rebuilding the carb and new fuel and oil lines and grease up the boogie wheel and drive axle bearings this year and riding it on a couple of vintage rides and then next year I plan on doin a full restoration of the sled including having the tunnel powdercoated and repaint everything. I bought a sled just like this back when I was 13 years old and this brings back many memories so this belongs in my sled garage. If anyone can point me in the right direction for parts like for starters a carb kit and I am in need of the rubber thing on the fuel tanks that houses the suction and vent piping. Or if anyone close to Wisconsin has one of these babies in there back yard or barn and would like to part with it let me know. (need parts sled). She does run on spray gas so that a plus and it does have 110 psi of compression.

I highly recommend using using genuine Yamaha fuel lines for replacement. The aftermarket are crap by comparison in my experience.

Personally I have not found any carb kits for my GS 340, but you may have more luck with this carb. You might try checking with the Rupp guys too as plenty of those sleds used keihin carbs as well.

As for the seat, there is a pretty good one for sale right now on vintage sleds for $150.00 I think!? I'd grab it, they're expensive to recover! Good luck and have fun. G.

Just found NOS carb parts available through powers edge (just google it). They don't as far as back as 73/74, but if you can figure out what parts you need, you may be able to find them there. Good luck!

amatosrx, your GP looks odd for some reason, never seen one with the windshield layed that far back! Looks good. G.

Hey mtnmaxman600,

How's the sm292 treating you? I'm the guy that sold it to you at haydays last year. Curt

I haven't done much with it other than get it running and packing boogie wheels ran out of time. I been moving into my new man cave and hope to get around to getting it restored this next year. Once I get started on the restoration I will post pics to this thread and keep everyone informed.

Restro is finally underway, have the engine mostly done, the chassis is at the sand blasted and at the painters, the parts I am going to have powder coated are ready to take and have done and I am in the middle of building a new seat for the sled. I have a question does anyone know where I can get a decal kit for this sled?
