So I have researched this and came up with the following setup.
First off, the sled is a stock 2000 srx700 w/o studs...I weigh @ 250lbs geared up and my riding style could be described as aggressive trail with occasional lake blasts.
8dn-20's(which I believe are stock on my sled) with 4.5 grams in the tips and center holes
WWW primary springs
54/44 helix
Let me know your thoughts and thanks in advance.

51/43
green yamaha secondary spring at 70 deg maybe have to go 80 for your weight

I really really think your gonna overrev with a 51/43 as it is less aggressive then a strate 47 which is stock; unless it is an advantedge helix. If it is it is too steep for your srx..
What about a 54/44?
Turk, i swear man, I would not BS you or anybody about this trail set-up. 51/43 helix in my 02 srx was spot on dead nuts and is also what is in my 01
i had that same set-up www 8dn-20's loaded, 51/43 set at 70

Depends on the maker of the helix. Also if you have powervalve issues you can be hitting peak rpm,s with the powervalves not opening using a less aggressive 51/43.
Using a 54/44 try the stock primary spring & weight set up 1st. The tip is allready 4.5 grams & inner should be 3.6.

helix is from pioneer perf out of NY. power valves were set properly
I know you mentioned before some helix are actually cut more aggressive then the same angle from another company

So you're saying change just the helix and go from there?Turk said:Depends on the maker of the helix. Also if you have powervalve issues you can be hitting peak rpm,s with the powervalves not opening using a less aggressive 51/43.

Turk could you please explain this to me, cut more aggressive than others, is this just with multi angle helix or could a straight cut 47 differ from one company to another, to me 47 degree angle is 47 degree, if its not 47 then its not 47 its something differnt,tomseal6 said:helix is from pioneer perf out of NY. power valves were set properly

some companies measure their angles differently. one company might measure their 48/42 helix one way and it will actually measure 48/42, but the next company might measure theirs the other way, where it measures either more aggressive or less aggressive. hard for me to explain, but i have helixs from "hi-tech", that have the same angle stamped on them, but they clearly aren't the same cut. comes from him having mulitiple machine shops making parts for him and 1 guy measuring the anlgle this way and the other guy that way. its weird i know.
Well Turk, you were spot on with your suggestions. This trip was the first ride with a 54/44 and wow does the sled rip...humbled a few people and made believer of others. Thanks again!
