Hi there, I got a viper er -04 with the following things: Bender triple pipes, v-force3 reeds, 8t drive sprockets, 44mm back country track. the problem is the clutch, i'm a total newbie with clutches, so i need some help.
What should i use? HC? HH? drag n fly? OEM weights? other? and what is HC 40-10? everybody seems to use them. which helix? which springs?
i'm kinda a big fellow somewhere at 110-120kg, ride narrow trails and the deep snow, want acc and backshift topspeed isn't so important around 150-160km/h is enough.

elevation?
we need your elevation to get you in the right direction.
everyones theory on clutching is different
my basic setup, stock motor, single pipe, 4-7000 ft.
I am using the 40-10 heel clickers (40-10 is the model/gram) with an orange/pink/orange long cap yamaha spring, 48/42 helix green spring @50-70 with 8 tooth drivers and 19/42 gearing, 159" track.
green/pink/green works well too.
the soft yamaha springs work well in the deep snow because they dont spin the track out. if you want to drag race use a stiffer spring.
i have seen this setup work on many different vipers, just add weight to the clickers for the pipes, motor work etc.
another popular setup is to use a pin conversion kit and run a 60g polaris weight trimmed down to clear the spyder and shave the weight to meet your rpm. the polaris weight hits real hard and works very well.
IMO the key to any clutch setup is to use the primary to tune your rpm, use the secondary to control shift.
