does anyone have a picture of one installed on a viper, i'm buying one and wanted to know where on the chassis/motor it goes and is it very effective? the last viper we has went through 3 motor mounts in 8000 miles so i want it fixed on this viper, thanks guys

do thos limiters actually do anything cause i just bough 2 vipers and if it does break stuff i would install one on both to be on the safe side. of course has long has it doesnt slwow me down haha

Thanks jason.

theres 2 differnt mounts, one style is just a bump stop, basicly a block that bolts to the frame and has a threaded stud with a rubber mounted bump stop that pushes against the engine.
The 2nd style is the stock srx dogbone link style, this is the better of the 2 and is a bolt on, it has a bracket which bolts to the engine, and one to the inside of the frame. the dogbone link connects the two. the srx one is a more postive connection and keeps it aligned much better then the first design mentioned.

so are these needed on the sx vipers? i own 2 700's i picked them up 2 weeks ago and this is my qestion.. should i spend my money and install them or is it not worth it? i did a search but didnt find what i wanted.

Thanks Jason.

yes, they should be added to any viper, even stock. I would also suggest resetting your belt center to center and offset after you use the srx dogbone link.

I just so happen to have a viper without engine so heres a pic of the stopper style, and then a pic of the srx style with a extra dogbone behind it so you can see what I am referring to.

all 98-02 srx have the dogbone link, it will bolt directly on any viper.

Bender Racing has them too. They are right in Colden.

P.S. WNYViper what dealer do you use? Weaver? Im also in WNY, about 10 minutes north of the falls.

Im a little too far east to go to Weavers everytime I need a part, I go to Sunnyside Sales and Service in Alexander, they are 15min from my house.

yes, doesnt matter on the limiter, the only place electric start matters is if you use a srx left front motor mount, because the srx has 3 bolts and the viper uses one with 2 bolts.

Ijust ordered the torque limiter and all the parts for the SRX "dog bone" motor mount from my dealer this afternoon. Got all the SRX parts and the torque limter for about $90. Not too bad I guess.

Can't wait to get them installed. hopefully no more broken motor mounts. Dang the stock ones break easy. And the only way you know is when you start wearing through belts!

the srx limiter will cure about 90% of the issues with a single pipe viper, if you have triple pipes you should definitely use the srx left motor mount as well.

Just dont forget to set the center to center and offset same as a srx when your done, belt problems will be a thing of the past. ;)!

Thx Mr Viper and everyone else!!!!!!! I guess with the SLP pipes the engine must just torque too much in there and break motor mounts easily.

It doesn't help that I tend to hit a lot of "submerged" tress, rocks, stumps, etc. while riding off trail quite a bit! That'll break the mounts in about a nonosecond flat!!!!

I know I'll need lots of advice when it comes to installation time of these parts, so please bare with me everyone!!!!!!

Thx!

MrViper, I assume with those adjustments you mention there they are to the secondary clutch.... The center to center and offset?

Can't I just leave a lot of free play in there to self correct? That's what my dealer does I'm pretty sure....... Or is that bad practice/ not good for belts.....

Sorry for my ignorance when it comes to clutching in particular!!!!!

Another Q: Does one need a spring/ clutch press to "monkey" with their primary clutch? i sort of want to take it apart and get in there and weigh the weights, but I'm afraid I'll never get it back together!

I know the secondary can be a pain to get together with a higher wind to the spring, and I'm worried that if I take apart the primary to weight the weight in my arms that I'll never gtet it back together.

Btw, from the former owner's notes I fairly certain he put in 4.8 grams in shoulder and 3.3 grams on the tips. None in middle hole of HC's. Also is using the red HC spring in primary and some bleck spring with a white or silver (I think silver) paint marks on the spring....

You can usually swap primary springs without a clutch compressor, however The HC Red spring is wicked stiff, I have heard that you need a clutch compressor to change these...
