Would a bad stator hurt my top end performance? I had a hard time getting over 100mph and revving over 8000rpm on long blasts last year and also some electrical issues pointing to the stator(tach/dash going out). Could they be related?

yep, harness rub thru. fixed mine last week.

Harness was repaired last year and I am fairly confident that is not the problem. If I was riding and switched to brights, lights would dim, tach and speedo would go dark and then takewhat seemed like 20-30 seconds to recover, and the recovery didn't seem to be affected by engine speed.

take a closer look sounds like rubb wire

I had a viper in last year with the exact same symptoms. Owner said before that happened though handgrips would get real hot. Wasn't the wiring harness, it was the stator. New stator, and the sled was back to normal.
