I had heard rumor from a friend that some people had a loss of speed by using anti-ratcheting drivers. Is there any truth to this? I always thought the looser you could run the track, the better off you were. Any thoughts on this issue? Let me know, thanks.

Hmm, I believe the '10 apex's have anti-rachet drivers stock, it would be interesting to compare one of those to a '09 to see. That is assuming that everything else clutching and gearing wise is the same to make it a fair comparison.

A looser track will diminish track bind which in theory results in more hp delivered. Most people who install extrovert drivers also install a taller lug track. Larger rear idlers and porting a track also reduce rolling resistance, but I will not reccommend porting a track that is for trail use, as porting reduces the amount of snowthat stays inside the rails for lubrication purposes

Tight track & stock drivers give you the best top end
antiratchet & loose track will cost ya 6-8 mph at least
been der dun dat on our test track with a lot of different sleds including my own.
Bruce..trust me on this one...for the best top end posssible run stock drivers & a tight track. i lost 4 mph alone one time by loosening the track & doing back top back speed runs

Hey Turk, it is actually Matt but thank you very much for the response. The only problem I see is having Hyfax wear running the track that tight. Is there really any advantage to extroverts then in terms of speed on a trail sled?
