i purchased a set of bender triple pipes from a guy that i know. he got them used on a wrecked sled. now for the Q&A,
1 how long dose the packing last in the stingers??
2 to replace it do i just grind the little tack welds off on the top of each stinger and pop the little top piece off??
3 when the packing burns out, what performance affects will i notice??

I was wondering the same thing so I used a grinder and sawzall to cut the two tack welds tonight. You do need a sawzall or hacksaw to do this. The ends bang off with a hammer and large screwdriver. The packing was in very good condition and only blackened around the inner pipe. These silencers have over 5000 miles on them. I am using the same packing again only wrapping the clean section against the inner perforated pipe. I had hoped they needed replacing as I find them on the loud side. I will tack weld the tops back on.
