My friends over at Vintagesleds.com were adamant that I use OEM Yamaha fuel line to update my 1980 SS 440. I was told that Yamaha uses metric sized fuel line; one guy even measured a piece he had in his toolbox; inside diameter is 6.5 mm and outside diameter is 10.5 mm.
What have you all used for fuel line on your older Yamahas? Where can I buy this metric fuel line other than a dealer? (I would like to find it "by the foot" so I can buy just enough to update the fuel site guage to be usable again.)
Please share your Yama-fuel line experiences!

I used 1/4" polyurethane fuel line on my '88 and it fit fine. 1/4" is 6.35mm. The polyurethane grips tight and really doesn't need clamps, in fact, you usually have to cut it off when it's time to remove.
my 1999 SRX used metric fuel line that was equivalent to 5 /16 fuel line.. I bought a couple of lengths from Yamaha and cut what I needed... You cam probably get vinyl fuel line from mc master -carr or some other warehouse like that.. you'd probably have to buy a 50 or 100 foot roll... There is also a place here in chicago called Keen-EDGE... they sell everything for the lawn mower- small engine biz and are very knowledgeable when it comes to "where to get" things at.. they have about 6 or 7 different size fuel lines for Weed Whackers !!! 1/4 fuel line MAY JUST restrict the fuel at full throttle.. you DO NOT WANT TO do that to a two stroke motor!!!! Get the RIGHT STUFF !!!
