I would like your opinion on this sled. i would like to look at it tomorrow. I noticed the oil on the exhaust pipe closest to the clutch- any idea what that is from?
If the sled is solid and well maintained I am not too worried about the miles as I think they would move off of the asking price and no matter what I bought i would most likely go through the whole thing myself as time went on.
Ad:
have a great running SRX w/7k miles. No issues with the sled. Have owned it for 5yrs and never let me down. Put a new suspension in last yr, track, clutch sheeve and a full tune up. I only rode it for 100 miles last yr and maybe 75 the year before. I love this sled but I bought myself a newer one. If you know these sleds you know that they last forever. I have seen some SRX's with 15k miles and no rebuild. I've enjoyed it now some one else can.

looks like it would need either exhaust or power valve gaskets IMO

Take a look on Craigslist Boston area. There looks like a real clean 2001 in West Newbury. If I was closer to it I might make the guy an offer.

I dont have $2400
Are the gaskets a big deal?
personally, i wouldnt even bother with that sled. I would wait until you had at least 2000 and buy a clean sled with lower miles. You will end up having way more into an older sled with high miles than you can anticipate right now. There may be alot of unseen problems...and the next thing you know youve just spent 3000 for an older srx with high miles. Just my .02.

I'd personally save up 2500 or so to buy an 00-02 SRX, there are just a few more creature comforts on those that make it so much nicer, and an extra 4hp... we are a few months out from getting snow so plenty of time to save up the $$...
i love my 98`s probally wouldnt if i had a 01 or 02 ..lol ..miles are high ....the oil is a power valve gasket driping ...no big deal a few buck to fix ....but 7k its probally ready for a rebuild ....

Check to make sure both bolts are in the exhaust flange. I bought one thinking it had the same problem and it was missing the bolt underneath. These have been known to vibrate out and you can't easily see it.

Jay-s, come up to the NH Grass drags this weekend. There are usually some good deals on used sleds. I'd look for either a Viper or an SRX, but get there early cause the ones priced to sell usually don't last long.
I bought a nice , clean, 100% stock unmolested SRX last night, 2300 milesRK-SXVIPER700 said:Jay-s, come up to the NH Grass drags this weekend. There are usually some good deals on used sleds.
