looking to put atleast a 4 inch riser on my sxr 600, can someone tell me everything i will need to do this and possibly suggest which brand to buy. i know im gonna need cable extensions, im just not sure if i need anything else besides the riser block and cables.
do not buy cable extensions! use the throttle and oil cables from an 03 mtn viper. 4" is borderline for the brake line and parking brake. play that one out. sometimes by turning the banjo fitting the line will make it. for the parking cable use the 05 apex mountain, i think. things to look for in risers is how they attach. some appear less expensive but require adaptors at an added expense. rox make a good 4 incher and is a self contained bolt on, no extra parts. also consider the strength of your existing steering stem and think about some reinforcement.

I bought 03 Mtn Viper cables, if you can find them on ebay they are alot cheaper than buying cable extensions. Also ditto on reinforcing the steering stem, but do NOT drive anything into the stem while it is on the sled, some have damaged their heat exchangers by doing that. The bottom bracket for the stem is welded to the front heat exchanger. Just a heads up...

hey guys i am puttin on a 5" riser on my 2001 sxr 700, willl the 03 mountain viper throttle cable work? and what is my options on the brake line?
I have this setup for sale if interested,
keep in mind when you put in a riser, when you go up 4inches, your going back as well because the steering post is angled. An articulating riser lets you put the bars where you want them once they are up.
