looks like an alignment pin off the chaincase.
and where is that at again? oh by the way i still havent got to the post office, i feel bad. I will monday no ands, ifs or buts about it.
no big deal on the post office, i am in no hurry. i would like to change my guess to include any of the following: front of rear skid shock spacer, spacer for the small idlers at the front of the rail, collar for the pull rods that attach on either side of the rear of rear shock, or maybe out of one of the shock eyes. i was playing with an older chaincase earlier and it made me think of the pin, i dont think the newer ones have them.
looks like the collar that goes over the screw got the hood tie down latch ..

I think it is a pull rod collar or a shock collar there all the same.

there are usually 2 seals that go on either end also when it slides thru the needle bearing of the shock.Can't see how you would have this piece only left over,where are the seals and how did you bolt the shock back on>>hmmmm!!!
Most def. is the cover for the hood tie down latch. Dont know how i missed that, but wont do that again! thanks.
